postcards from new zealand was born in 2008 out of a need to scream very loud.

it's a coming together of very different people playing different styles and genres.

you won't find any photos because we chose not to have any image, but then, as someone way wiser than us said, "if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice".

generally speaking, we celebrate the end of things: the end of life, the end of times, the end of fear, the end of love and, by celebrating immortals, we even celebrate the end of death. everything comes to an end and we can’t but feel very small before this fact, so we find ways to come to terms with it (and we party like it’s 1999). we look dumb but, deep inside, we’re even dumber.

the albums marked as "pfnz-something" continue the lyrical concept of the first album: a man's will to live flees from him to go to new zealand and from there it sends back postcards reminding him of everything that sucks about his life. the records in this series are pfnz, love at first scythe, the way out, spare graves, lifeache and red stain corner/empty room.

ps: a lot of bands like to say they play 'original and unique' music, claiming they get inspiration from "the world, the sea, the falling leaves". well, we don't, we take inspiration from a great number of bands and musicians who came before us (and know better) and we're not ashamed to admit it. here's some of them: today is the day, prince, king crimson, breach, rush, grateful dead, autechre, katatonia, pain of salvation, my dying bride, slint, genesis, sonic youth, sleep, kyuss, bongzilla, enslaved, pearls before swine, alice in chains, morbid angel, depeche mode, nine inch nails, fates warning, death, talk talk, jesus lizard, wardruna, led zeppelin, eyehategod, phil collins, sunn o))), the orb, motorpsycho, drive like jehu, savatage, liturgy, neurosis, toto, opeth, full of hell, neil young, the knife, crosby, stills & nash, wadada leo smith, queensryche, supertramp, aphex twin, napalm death, bryan adams, tim hecker, fugazi, magma, wayne shorter, tom waits, cop shoot cop, earth, minor threat, fennesz, peter gabriel, yob, porcupine tree, manowar, slayer, ulver, metallica, frank zappa, john coltrane, the police, archie shepp, fever ray, comus, ozric tentacles, aerosmith, cynic, slipknot, cecil taylor, brian eno, the beatles, faith no more, bruce palmer, the mars volta, manowar, strapping young lad/devin townsend, herbie hancock, glenn branca.

as heterogeneous as the list may be, each of these artists/bands has somehow inspired part of the work we've done and will do.
