in the land of rope and honey
we can finally tell you a couple of things more on the rope project. actually, we can tell you a lot of things, so let's cut the crap. front covers are a work in progress, they may change in time.
rope i: ce n'est pas la guerre
1.ce n'est pas la guerre
2. מצדה
3.herod
4.wake the dead
5.كوم الشقافة i
the first album, ‘ce n’est pas la guerre’, is pretty much old skool pfnz, something like an enhanced version of ‘at dawn i saw the blahblahblah’, it’s got that epic-viking-machomachoman vibe, driven by two drummers for the entire album. bluarghs and skreeeks and whachamacallit all along, fun stuff. it was completely written on bass guitars.
rope ii: k'nyan
1..كوم الشقافة ii
2.portal i
3.k’nyan i: turquoise
4.k’nyan ii: exile
5.portal ii
‘k’nyan’ is probably the opposite of the first album. it’s a minimalistic ambient album which draws from stockhausen, king crimson, today is the day and flemish variation. most of it will be recorded live, then we’ll overdub lots of stuff. it’s all written in a very conceptual way and played on a variety of instruments.
rope iii
1.rope
2.and rain fell down on he who challenged the gods
‘rope’ is… well, it’s rope. it’s just two songs, about 45 minutes total and it’s in-between new and old pfnz. you’ll feel at home but with the walls painted a different colour. we used lots of guitars on this one, actually all of it was written on guitar, then there’s the synths, vocals and… well, there’s a lot goin’ on.
rope iv: the damage done
1.dead man’s clock
2.just not here
3.the land of rope and honey
4.sunset scenery
5.brother
6.tower
7.clouds
8.once, a river
9.kvällssång
10.spoiler: rope dies at the end
‘damage done’ is almost completely electronic stuff, goin’ all nineinchnailsish before turning petergabrielish, then vangelisish, a little depecheish, then ulverish and then it’s over. maybe. composed on synths and drum machines, this is pretty new for us and we intend to explore this world a lot more in the future.
obviously we’re already thinking about the next project, there may be a fifth chapter coming this summer, who knows. we’ll just have to wait and see, that is if we don’t rot any sooner, which is something worth considering.
yay.
